The hotel was built in the 1850s. According to one version, it was built by Anton Haberzettl, the administrator of wells, in 1852 - 1853, according to the second version it was built by Doctor of Medicine (Dr.Med.) Emil Kratzmann senior. The original name Telegraf was changed around 1900 upon the overall rebuilding of the hotel to its present appearance, to Grand Hotel Ott (it used to be the property of the hotel keeper Caspar Ott, a native of Cheb).
